“The legislature's one-house budget proposals ignore the recent data that shows that people and jobs are leaving New York. While facing these facts, the legislature has unveiled a plan that continues to make New York unaffordable by raising taxes on residents and businesses, thus continuing to exodus out of New York. One proposal would raise taxes on employers to pay off an Unemployment Insurance debt created by state-mandated pandemic shutdowns, which amounts to nothing less than double taxation of our businesses. We encourage members to rethink some of these initiatives and instead look for ways to provide actual relief to all New Yorkers.”
