Senator James Skoufis
New York State Senate District 42
State Senator James Skoufis is currently serving his third term, representing the new District 42, which comprises nearly all of Orange County.
James began his career in public service as a Woodbury Town Councilman and then as a three-term State Assemblyman. In 2018, he won the Senate seat he now holds and took over chairmanship of the Investigations and Government Operations Committee, where he’s made a name for himself in the fight against corruption.
Working across the aisle, James has been a champion for better schools, stronger infrastructure, keeping a lid on taxes, and leveling the playing field for all Hudson Valley residents. He consistently carries the most independent voting record and passes the most legislation of any of his colleagues.
James lives in Cornwall and has a daughter, Ava, born in 2021.
