New York State spending will outpace revenues significantly
over the next four years, leading to an estimated $8.7 billion
spending gap by fiscal year 2010-11, according to state
Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli's annual report on state
finances
The state Assembly's Commission on Skills Development
and Career Education will host a meeting on emerging “green”
jobs and job possibilities for the Central New York Region
Friday October 19, at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse
Governor Eliot Spitzer and U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton
will be among the speakers at a conference showcasing the
technologies and ideas fueling Upstate business growth October
9-10 at Syracuse OnCenter.
Business Council President Kenneth Adams will provide opening
remarks for the two-day event
The future of New York's bioscience industry is the topic
of a Council-supported half-day seminar October 10th at
New York University Medical Center's Pfizer Foundation Hall
for Humanism & Medicine.
Business Council staffer Ken Pokalsky, who directs the
Council's environmental and manufacturing programs, will
be among the experts featured at the free event
