Governor Hochul to Address The Business Council’s Annual Meeting at The Sagamore Resort 
Governor Hochul’s Appearance Will Follow Panel of Former State-Wide Elected Officials 

ALBANY – Governor Kathy Hochul will speak at The Business Council’s Annual Meeting on Friday, September 24, at The Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing. 

Governor Hochul will speak to the guests of the Annual Meeting just one month after being sworn into office. The governor’s appearance will come on the third day of the three-day event, which focuses on helping businesses return to a sense of normalcy as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to put a strain on the state’s economy. The ‘Back to Business’ agenda aims to guide and assist businesses through the pandemic which has produced new and updated federal and state workplace and employee rights.

“We are excited to host Governor Hochul at our Annual Meeting, where some of the state's largest employers will benefit from hearing from our new governor and her vision for business in New York,” said Heather Briccetti, President and CEO of The Business Council of New York State. “As Lieutenant Governor, Kathy Hochul was a good friend and ally. We are hopeful that the relationship continues as she leads the state and begins to shape policy that will impact the employers of New York State.” 

Political Insider’s Panel 
Governor Hochul’s address will follow a panel with two former state-wide elected officials discussing the role of politics in today’s world, including the divide among moderates and those on the far end of each political party. The panel will be moderated by former political reporter and current Managing Director for Marathon Strategies, Liz Benjamin, and will feature the Honorable David Paterson, 55th Governor of New York State, and the Honorable Dennis Vacco, former New York State Attorney General. 
  
Keynote Speaker 

The event’s keynote is Syracuse Men’s Head Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim. The Central New York native is in his 46th season as men’s basketball coach at his alma mater. A member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, Boeheim trails only Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski in all-time wins and games coached at the Division I level. Boeheim has guided Syracuse to 35 NCAA Tournament berths and the 2003 NCAA Championship. Off the court, he and his wife, Juli, head up the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation, which supports children in need and those touched by cancer. 
  
 Award Recipients 
Corning Award 
G. Thomas Tranter Jr., former President and Director of Community and Government Affairs for Corning Enterprises, has been named the recipient of the 2021 Corning Award for Excellence. 
  
Member of the Year Recipient 
The Vandervort Group, LLC. has been named The Business Council’s 2021 Member of the Year. The Albany based lobbying firm has been in business since 1985 and is second-generation led with a combined 70 years’ experience. 
  
Chamber of the Year Award 
The Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce has been named as the Chuck Steiner Memorial Chamber of the Year Award recipient. The Chamber of the Year is awarded to an outstanding organization and leadership team that makes doing business in New York State a better experience for their members, this award is named in honor of Chuck Steiner, who had a stellar 37-year career leading the Niagara Falls Area Chamber, the Chamber of Schenectady County and the Capital Region Chamber  
Father Peter Young Award for Community Service 
Callanan Industries has been named as this year’s recipient of the Father Peter Young Award for Community Service. The Father Peter Young Award is granted to a company or individual who has demonstrated a strong commitment to giving back and service to their community. 

This year’s Annual Meeting will take place September 22 – 24 at The Sagamore Resort, Bolton Landing. A full agenda can be found here
