New York’s highest-in-the-nation per capita tax burden weakens

ALBANY—The Business Council’s Board of Directors elected
Linda Sanford of IBM and Kirk Gregg of Corning Incorporated as co-chairs
for the year ahead. The Council has also elected two new directors and
re-elected 8 directors.
Sanford is vice president of enterprise technology on demand at IBM Corporation
and has served as chairman of the Business Council’s Board of Directors
since September 2005
The Business Council’s Board of Directors has elected Linda Sanford
of IBM and Kirk Gregg of Corning Incorporated co-chairs for the year ahead.
The Council has also elected two new directors and re-elected
eight directors.
Sanford is senior vice president, enterprise on demand transformation

Saying “I can’t wait to get started,” Ken Adams, the president
of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, accepted his new role as president and
CEO of The Business Council and asked members to help make the Council strong

agenda for growth in New York State.
“We do not want the urgent priorities in Albany to cause
us to lose sight of the very important long-term, multi-year agenda

since 1995 and a business leader who has emerged as a catalyst helping
chambers across the state work together on economic-development issues,
has been named president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State
Most smaller urbanized areas in New York State improved their standing in a national ranking of regional economic strength, although top rankings remain concentrated in other states.
Of 15 "micropolitan" statistical areas in New York, 13 gained in the 2006 rankings, compared to their position in 2004
