Former Corning Enterprises President Thomas Tranter to Receive The Business Council’s ‘Corning Award for Excellence’

The Vandervort Group Named 2021 Member of the Year Recipient  

 

ALBANY – G. Thomas Tranter, former President and Director of Community and Government Affairs for Corning Enterprises, has been named the recipient of the 2021 Corning Award for Excellence by The Business Council of New York State Inc. The award will be presented during The Business Council’s Annual Meeting on September 23rd.

 

The Business Council has presented the award in partnership with Corning Enterprises for 43 years. Previous recipients included H. Carl McCall (2020), and Nancy Zimpher (2019).

 

Mr. Tranter, the 2021 recipient, spent 20 years with Corning and was responsible for advancing and achieving the mission of Corning Enterprises, which is to positively impact the economic, cultural, educational, and social health of the Southern Tier region in which they call home.

 

“I am honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Mr. Tranter. “It has been my privilege to work closely with the Council’s professional staff and Council members to positively impact the business climate of our state. It is through partnerships, communication, and collaboration that we are able to help our businesses grow.”

Mr. Tranter has a 20-year history with The Business Council dating back to 2000, where he served on several committees. In 2011 he was elected to The Business Council’s Board of Directors, serving until he retired from Corning Enterprises in 2020.

Member of the Year Recipient – The Vandervort Group

The Vandervort Group LLC. has been named The Business Council’s 2021 Member of the Year. The Albany based lobbying firm has been in business since 1985 and is second-generation led with a combined 70 years’ experience. The Vandervort Group joined The Business Council in 1987 and continues to be a strong ally and member 34 years later.

 

The Business Council’s Annual Meeting – Back to Business

This year’s Annual Meeting will take place September 22 – 24 at The Sagamore Resort, Bolton Landing.

 

·         The three-day event begins with a nine-hole golf tournament on Wednesday, September 22

·         The keynote address will be delivered after dinner on Thursday, September 23 by Syracuse Basketball Coach Jim Boeheim

·         The event concludes Friday, September 24 with a “What to Expect in 2022” New York State legislative session preview.
