William F.X. O’Neil was sworn in as the 8th County Executive in January 2023 to complete the term of former County Executive Marc Molinaro, who was elected as Congressman representing New York’s 19th District. William F.X. O’Neil has served in the Executive Office of Dutchess County Government since 2005. He was appointed Chief of Staff and Dutchess County’s first Deputy County Executive in 2012 by County Executive Molinaro.
Prior to his service in county government, he was the Executive Director for the Children’s Services Council of Dutchess County following many successful years as an executive in the Healthcare software industry, including stints as Senior Vice President of Sales for Baxter Healthcare, Chief Operating Officer for MPower, and President of a FISERV subsidiary.
Bill O’Neil grew up in Hyde Park and is a graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Niagara University and his MBA from the University of Utah. He served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Captain. He currently resides in the Town of Poughkeepsie with his wife Gail.
