ALBANY—State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, the
likely Democratic candidate for Governor, and John Faso,
the Republican nominee for Governor, will speak on issues in the race
for Governor at an 8:30 a.m. session Thursday, Sept. 21,
during The Business Council's Annual Meeting.
The Annual Meeting will take place Wednesday-Friday Sept. 20-22 at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing, Warren County. Also at the Annual Meeting:
- Robert Catell, chairman and CEO of KeySpan, will
receive the Corning Award for Excellence, which the Council gives each
year to recognize a New Yorkers for outstanding accomplishment and deep
commitment to New York and New Yorkers. The presentation will take place
during dinner festivities beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.

- State Assemblyman Richard Gottfried (D-Manhattan),
Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Garden City), and Stephen
McCormick, plant manager for Anheuser-Busch in Baldwinsville,
Onondaga County, will discuss health-care issues beginning
at approximately 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21.
- Jeanine Pirro, the Republican candidate for attorney
general, will speak at 9 a.m. Friday, September 22.
Democrats Andrew Cuomo and Mark Green
have also been invited to speak at this session.
- Six other state legislators will discuss the state’s fiscal condition and other legislative issues at approximately 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22. Scheduled participants include: Senator James Alesi (R-Fairport); Senator Neil Breslin (D-Albany); Assemblyman Robin Schimminger (D-Buffalo); Assemblyman Paul Tokasz (D-Buffalo); Assemblyman Paul Tonko (D-Amsterdam); and Senator George Winner (R-Elmira).
Background on The Council's Annual Meeting: The Council's Annual Meeting attracts about 500 top business and government leaders in the state for discussions on policy issues that matter to the state's business community. The meeting is open to all Council members.
