Paul M. Nasipak has been named 1999 Small Business Advocate of the Year by The Business Council and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).

The award was presented March 30 at Small Business Day, which is organized in Albany each spring by The Business Council and co-sponsored by NFIB.

Nasipak, who was nominated by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, is principal/chief marketing officer of Hatch-Leonard/Markin-Shaw, Inc., a Rochester insurance firm.

He has played a leadership role in developing workers' compensation policy, both for The Business Council and for the Rochester Chamber.

The award honors a small business proprietor whose efforts have helped improve New York's business climate, especially for small business. Candidates for the award are nominated by members of The Business Council and NFIB.
