Sanjay Seth is Deputy Commissioner for Climate, Air, and Energy at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. In this role, Sanjay oversees efforts to protect New Yorkers from the impacts of climate change, reduce harmful air pollution, and advance New York’s climate and clean energy goals.

Previously, Sanjay was Chief of Staff & Senior Advisor for Climate and Equity for the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region 1. He served as a Lecturer at Harvard, teaching on climate change, urban planning, and public policy. He managed the City of Boston’s Climate Ready Boston program, developing a multi-billion-dollar climate adaptation plan. And he worked with the City of New York on major climate resilience investments to protect New Yorkers from the impacts of climate change.

Originally from Bismarck, North Dakota, Sanjay holds a Bachelor in Economics, Politics, and Public Policy from Goldsmiths, University of London, a Master in Urban Planning from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and a Master in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
