Statement from Heather Mulligan, President and CEO of The Business Council of New York State, Inc.
Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001

"Twenty-five years later, the memories of September 11, 2001, remain with us. We remember the many lives lost and the courage of the first responders who ran towards danger in an effort to save others. In the immediate aftermath of that tragic day, there was also a legitimate fear that many businesses and employers would leave Manhattan. Instead, the business community did what it always does best - we came together. The Business Council of New York State, Inc. was proud to be part of this effort, and we worked closely with our members, employees, and various partners to alleviate concerns and create sustainable programs that would help retain employees in New York City. The ability to stand united, work closely together, and advocate for businesses helped lay the groundwork for recovery and develop a strong sense of pride and resilience which is still very much present today."
