No More “Business as Usual” – Surviving and Thriving in a Low Carbon Economy – New York State has adopted the nation’s most aggressive mandates for carbon emission reductions and renewable energy generation. The “Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act” (CLCPA) mandates that economy-wide CO2 emissions be reduced to 60% of 1990 levels by 2030, and ultimately to 15% of 1990 levels by 2050, and for power generation to be 70% renewable by 2030 and zero emissions by 2040 – and the CLCPA gives state agencies broad authority to impose regulations to achieve these targets.
The CLCPA will impose significant new mandates on businesses of all kinds, both in the direct regulation of carbon-emitting activities, and by dramatically reshaping the state’s energy markets.
For many businesses, the initial reaction to the CLCPA was alarm, driven by uncertainty about future energy supplies, regulatory mandates, and cost increases.
This seminar will help businesses to begin a more detailed consideration of the risks, and opportunities, resulting from the CLCPA, and to begin planning for doing business in an increasingly carbon-limited economy.
The program outline is provided below additional details will be posted as agenda is finalized.
