Council to host annual Conference on State taxation June 25-27

There is still time to register for The Business Council's annual Conference on State Taxation June 25-27 at the Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa in Saratoga Springs.

Barbara G. Billet, acting commissioner of the state Department of Taxation and Finance, will speak during dinner on Tuesday, June 26.

The Business Council conducts the session in cooperation with the state Department of Taxation and Finance to give tax professionals from business the opportunity to network with experts who write and implement state tax laws.

The Council has sponsored this annual conference since 1984, and it has evolved into the premier session of its kind on state taxation.

The three-day event is designed to give professionals from the business sector an opportunity to network with the technical and policy experts who write and implement state tax laws. The agenda includes formal presentations on technical aspects of tax law and ample opportunities for networking.

Agenda topics include: the legislative budget; federal legislation affecting state taxation; tax composition; the bank tax; manufacturing's lowered tax rate; REITs and RICs; combined reporting; recent regulatory decision; streamlined sales tax project; online tax center services; and leading state tax trends.

Discussions are led by staff from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, as well as tax professionals from Hodgson Russ LLP, the Council on State Taxation (COST), Ernst & Young LLP, the Schonbraun McCann Group, LLP; and Deloitte & Touche LLP.
