John Catsimatidis to Receive The Business Council’s Corning Award for Excellence
Annual Award to be Presented at a September 19th Dinner
ALBANY – John Catsimatidis, CEO of the Red Apple Group and New York City Radio Host, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Corning Award for Excellence by The Business Council of New York State. The award will be presented during the awards dinner at The Business Council’s Annual Meeting on September 19th.
The Business Council has presented the award in partnership with Corning Incorporated for 46 years. Previous recipients include Kathryn Wylde, President & CEO of the Partnership for New York City (2023), Eric Mower (2022), G. Thomas Tranter, former President and Director of Community and Government Affairs for Corning Enterprises (2021), H. Carl McCall (2020), and former SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher (2019).
Mr. Catsimatidis, after moving to New York City at a young age with his family from the Greek Isles, has successfully owned and operated the Red Apple Group for over four decades, beginning at age 25 with 10 Red Apple Supermarkets throughout the New York City area. Today, the Red Apple Group employs more than 8,000 people, with more than 2,000 in New York City, and is a vastly diversified corporation that has holdings in the energy, media, aviation, retail, and real estate sectors. In addition to his company, Mr. Catsimatidis hosts ‘Cats and Cosby Roundtable’ on WABC Radio.

The Business Council’s Annual Meeting
This year’s Annual Meeting will take place September 18 – 20 at The Sagamore Resort, Bolton Landing. The three-day event will focus on the issues impacting New York’s businesses and the state’s future political landscape.
- Programming begins on Thursday, September 19, with a panel discussion on the state’s energy goals and transition plans. There will also be a panel on emerging technology and its use in business.
- Friday, September 20th’s programming consists of panels on the upcoming state and federal elections and how New York State will be impacted by the various potential outcomes.
The Business Council has invited state-wide elected officials to speak at this year’s event.
