Mr. Mager is a member of the Firm’s Energy practice group. Mike has practiced extensively in matters before the New York State Public Service Commission since 1990, and also appears regularly on behalf of clients at the New York Independent System Operator, the New York State Reliability Council (which he previously served as Chair), and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Much of Mike’s practice is on behalf of large industrial, commercial and institutional energy consumers, and includes, but is not limited to, the representation of clients in: administrative proceedings involving rates and regulatory policies; contract negotiations involving all facets of energy services; certification and related proceedings involving the construction and/or the operation of electric generation and gas distribution facilities; disputes with energy service providers, including utilities; energy-related transactions; the acquisition of competitively-priced electricity and natural gas supplies; and energy-related and commercial litigation, settlement negotiations and mediations.
Mike has had considerable success assisting businesses and institutions in lowering their energy-related costs in a variety of ways, and is a prominent representative of large energy consumers throughout New York.
