ALBANY—The Business Council of New York State today announced that Michael P. Moran has joined the staff as director of communications. He will be responsible for the Council's external communications function.
“Michael's experience in New York state government, media relations and journalism will be an asset to the Council as we work to promote economic growth, good jobs and strong communities,” said Kenneth Adams, Business Council president and CEO.
Moran comes to the Council from The Hartford Financial Services Group where he was an assistant vice president for media relations.
For nearly 10 years before that he served as the director of public affairs, northeast region for the American Insurance Association.
Previously, Moran worked as press secretary for Assembly Speaker Saul Weprin and as director of communications for the Civil Service Employees Association.
He has also worked as a reporter for WNYT-TV, Albany, NY, Inside Albany, WSKG-TV, Binghamton, NY and the Middletown, NY Times Herald Record.
Moran is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and holds a masters' degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University.
He and his wife Leslie reside in Albany.
