The Business Council of New York State strongly supports S.3352 (Sanders) / A.114 (Berger), which would allow for electronic delivery of communications to auto insurance policy holders if they have requested information be sent electronically.
Recently, legislation to allow property and casualty insurance policyholders to receive communications electronically was signed into law. This legislation looks to do the same for specifically auto, as the earlier legislation did not include auto insurance. Most industries are making a push to "go paperless" and use electronic delivery for sending information however, some insurance information is required to be mailed to the policyholders. The legislation brings this style of delivery up to date while still giving consumers the choice to have notices mailed if they choose. This is a great way that the insurance industry can help conserve natural resources and cut down on paper use. while still providing policyholders with the necessary documentation they need.
For these reasons, The Business Council strongly supports this legislation.
