Kevin Hansen is the Senior Vice President and Head of Public Policy at Empire State Development (ESD), the State of New York’s chief economic development agency. At ESD, Kevin leads a 15-person division responsible for all agency public policy, legislative affairs and economic analysis. As it relates to renewable energy, this has included efforts to develop the State's climate change plan for industry, implement policies to grow the State's green economy, and administer a $140 million property tax relief fund for local governments impacted by power plant closures. Prior to joining ESD, Kevin held a diverse series of roles with the City of Chicago, District of Columbia Mayor's Office, and Bain & Company. He holds an M.P.A. degree from NYU Wagner, where he was awarded the Bohnett Public Service Fellowship, as well as a B.B.A. in Accounting and a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Iowa, which were awarded with honors and distinction.
