John J. Borchert joined Central Hudson in 1985 as a Junior Engineer and has been promoted to several positions within the utility, including Power Quality Services Engineer, Supervisor of New Business Services, and Manager of Customer Services – Mid-Hudson Division, Manager of Gas & Mechanical Engineering and Manager of Electric Engineering Services. He is a 1985 graduate of the State University of New York's Maritime College, with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He also holds a master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

In John’s current position he monitors and provides strategic input in the technical aspects of state and federal regulatory energy policy. He serves as Central Hudson’s representative on the NYISO’s Management Committee, as well as the New York State Transmission Owners Technical Committee (TOTC) and all subcommittees of the TOTC. He represented Central Hudson in the development, formation, and now serves as a Central Hudson representative on the Board of Managers of the NYTransco, which is a public-private partnership of the New York Transmission Owners to jointly develop and own transmission facilities in New York State. John also chairs Central Hudson’s Research and Development Committee.

John is a native of the Hudson Valley and John currently resides in Poughkeepsie, NY.
