Joanne Fernandez serves as the Director of US Government Affairs for Corning Incorporated, a global leader in the invention of life-changing technologies utilizing materials science. With headquarters in New York State, Corning’s business markets include advanced optics, automotive, mobile consumer electronics, life sciences, semiconductors, and solar. Corning supplies key components for semiconductors, precision glass for liquid crystal displays, optical fiber, and cable.
In this role, Joanne leads Corning’s government relations and advocacy efforts across the Northeast. Joanne is acknowledged for her expertise in establishing strategic partnerships and promoting forward-thinking public policies that enhance education, economic development, and sustainability.
Joanne holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Latin American and Caribbean Studies from the University at Albany. She has been recognized with numerous distinctions for her leadership and influence, including the SABRE Award, City & State’s “Above & Beyond: Woman of a Civic Mind” and “Latino Trailblazer,” as well as accolades from various non-profit organizations.
Joanne is deeply committed to mentoring and developing the next generation. She actively participates with organizations focused on coaching emerging professionals, advancing female leadership, building networks, sustaining parks, and supporting culture and arts within our communities. She is known for fostering inclusive environments, and empowering others to break barriers in traditionally underrepresented fields.
Joanne resides in New York with her husband and family.
