Legislative Analyst
Jared E. Hunter is an Albany native and Capital Region professional whose career has been shaped by a commitment to public service, education, leadership, and creating opportunities for others. His journey began at Christian Brothers Academy, where he earned 1st Honor Roll recognition and the Platoon Leader of the Year Award while remaining actively involved in programs including SUNY Albany CSTEP, Black and Latino Achievers, Alpha Esq., and PAL. These early experiences fostered his interest in leadership, mentorship, and community engagement and laid the foundation for his continued commitment to supporting young people.
Since entering college in 2016, Jared has built a diverse professional background spanning higher education, government, community programming, and education. He earned his B.S. in Sociology from the University at Albany and went on to serve as a Congressional Caseworker for Congressman Gregory Meeks, helping constituents navigate issues involving federal agencies while gaining firsthand experience in government and public policy. He later served as an Afterschool Program Director and Youth Mentor before becoming a Lead Math Instructor and sixth-grade teacher at KIPP Capital Region. As an educator, Jared combined academic instruction with mentorship, helping students strengthen their mathematical foundations while exposing them to the educational and career opportunities available beyond the classroom. He believes that giving young people access to new experiences and possibilities is essential to developing a growth mindset and helping them envision a broader future for themselves.
In 2026, Jared expanded his professional path once again, transitioning from education into public policy as a Legislative Analyst with The Business Council. His career reflects nearly a decade of growth across multiple sectors, with each experience building upon the last and strengthening his skills in research, communication, advocacy, leadership, problem-solving, and community engagement. Today, Jared brings together his experiences in government, education, and youth development to contribute to legislative and policy work while remaining committed to the Capital Region and to creating meaningful opportunities for the communities he serves.
