Statement in Response to the NYSERDA Memo Regarding the Costs of the CLCPA

“As the Hochul administration takes steps to address energy reliability and cost concerns, it is increasingly clear that we need the Legislature to agree to amendments to the CLCPA. For a variety of factors, including some beyond New York’s control, the CLCPA’s GHG emission reductions, renewable energy mandates, and timetables are proving unachievable. Adjusting the state’s energy and climate law does not mean abandoning the state’s commitment to act on climate change. New York has been, and will continue to be, one of the most energy- and carbon-efficient states in the U.S. But New York needs to make evidence-based changes that protect reliability and affordability, while we continue to make climate progress.”
