Governor Hochul to Address The Business Council’s Annual Meeting at The Sagamore Resort

Governor Hochul’s Appearance Will Follow Lee Zeldin Speech, State-wide Party Panel 

ALBANY – Governor Kathy Hochul will speak at The Business Council’s Annual Meeting on Friday, September 23, at The Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing. Governor Hochul’s address will take place at 11:00 am.

Governor Hochul will speak to the guests of the Annual Meeting for the second straight year and comes on the third day of the three-day event, which focuses on the economy and November elections. The ‘Looking Forward’ agenda includes two impactful days of programming with state political leaders, economic forecasters, and cryptocurrency experts.

State-Wide November Election Panel

The governor’s address will follow a panel that includes Jay Jacobs, Chair, New York State Democratic Committee, and Nicholas Langworthy, Chair, New York Republican State Committee. Former Political Reporter and current Managing Director for Marathon Strategies, Liz Benjamin, will moderate the panel. 

Keynote Speaker

The event’s keynote is Chris Christie, 55th Governor of New Jersey and current Senior Legal and Political Commentator for ABC News. Mr. Christie will deliver the keynote address during The Business Council’s awards dinner on September 22nd. 

Award Recipients

Corning Award

Eric Mower, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Mower, has been named the recipient of the 2022 Corning Award for Excellence by The Business Council of New York State. The Business Council has presented the award in partnership with Corning Enterprises for 44 years. Previous recipients include G. Thomas Tranter, former President and Director of Community and Government Affairs for Corning Incorporated (2021), H. Carl McCall (2020), and former SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher (2019).

Member of the Year

Charter Communications has been named The Business Council’s 2022 Member of the Year. Charter Communications has been a Business Council member since 2008, consistently participating in conference panels and discussions while also sponsoring many events, including those that provide valuable content and resources to women and other minority-owned businesses.  

Father Peter Young Award

Stewart’s Shops, a Capital Region-based company, will receive the Father Peter Young Award. The award is presented to a company or individual who has demonstrated a strong commitment to giving back and serving their community.

Chamber of the Year

The Capital Region Chamber has been named as the Chuck Steiner Memorial Chamber of the Year Award recipient. The Chamber of the Year is awarded to an outstanding organization and leadership team that makes doing business in New York State a better experience for its members.
