Charter Communications Named 2022 Member of the Year

ALBANY – Eric Mower, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Mower, has been named the recipient of the 2022 Corning Award for Excellence by The Business Council of New York State. The award will be presented during The Business Council’s Annual Meeting on September 22nd.

The Business Council has presented the award in partnership with Corning Enterprises for 44 years. Previous recipients include G. Thomas Tranter, former President and Director of Community and Government Affairs for Corning Enterprises (2021), H. Carl McCall (2020), and former SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher (2019).

Mr. Mower is a 1968 graduate of Syracuse University where he earned his Master of Arts degree from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Since 1968 he has served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Mower, a marketing, advertising, and public relations company with 10 offices in five states. Mower has been recognized by various business publications as a leader in the field of Marketing and Communications and was most recently honored by the One Hundred Black Men of New York for pro bono partnerships over the years. Mower has been a member of The Business Council for more than 30 years, with Eric serving as Board Chair in 2019 and 2020.

“If ever there was one, remarkable constant I observed in my 30+ years of membership in the Business Council, it is the unwavering, constructive voice the Council brings to our government for the benefit of not just the businesses in New York State, but also for the people who work in those businesses,” said Eric Mower, Chairman & CEO Mower. “The Corning Award symbolizes both the mission of the Council and the recognition of just one person each year who represents the many Council members who also served.”

“I couldn’t be prouder to have the opportunity to work alongside Eric Mower at The Business Council. Eric’s hard work and focus have led to his continued success as the owner of a business that has helped countless other companies across New York State,” said Dawn Burlew, Director, Government Affairs & Business Development, Corning Incorporated. “Eric’s personal success shared with his willingness to assist The Business Council in its mission to create a better business climate in New York State makes him the perfect recipient for this year’s Corning award.”

“Eric has earned this honor by operating a successful company for more than 50 years while also donating his time and, in many cases, his business resources to ensure The Business council continues to grow and amplify its voice as a pro-business advocacy association,” said Heather Briccetti Mulligan, President & CEO, The Business Council of New York State. “Over the years, Eric and I have developed not just a successful working relationship, but I consider him a close friend.”
