The impact of Sematech industries on the North Country in New York State will be the focus of an all-day conference Friday, August 22, at the Joan Weill Library at Paul Smith's College in Paul Smith's, Franklin County.
The conference will bring together government leaders, business executives and other professions to discuss the "incomparable economic, development, educational, and cultural opportunities Sematech can bring to Upstate New York."
The conference will also feature remarks from Charles Sporck, the founder of Sematech, and Alain Kaloyeros, executive director of Albany Nanotech at the University at Albany.
The conference agenda also includes:
- A panel
discussion on technology transfer and its effects on higher education
featuring panelists from SUNY Albany, the University of Rochester,
and the University of Texas.
- A panel
discussion on real estate with panelists from area chambers of commerce
and realtors.
- A panel on the investment communities with business leaders from New York and Texas.
The conference is part of Adirondack Roundtable, a forum for discussing economic, political, social, and environmental issues facing New York.
