As a communications professional with more than 20 years of experience, Gary understands not only how, but when, to execute communication tactics. Gary recently joined Mower after more than four years with the New York State Department of Health where he led all internal and external communications, served as the agency’s primary spokesperson for local, national and international press inquiries, and served as the Department’s chief liaison to the press office for Governor Andrew M. Cuomo during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Gary entered public service in 2015 as a director of communications for the New York State Department of Transportation.
Gary specializes in strategic communication, crisis communication, public, media and government relations, and media and presentation skills training.
A broadcast journalist by trade, Gary previously served as news director at Time Warner Cable News for the Albany and Hudson Valley regions from 2007-2015. Before that, he was a senior executive producer responsible for launching the nightly political/public affairs program Capital Tonight for a statewide audience.
Gary lives in Glenville with his wife and two children.
