Employee Wellness & Obesity – The Other Pandemic

Please join us for the April installment of The Business Council's Healthcare Roundtable Series. We will be discussing the important topic of employee wellness, the fight against obesity and other comorbidities on April 15 from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. We are excited to have a panel of participants whose expertise will allow us to explore the practical, clinical and policy sides of these increasingly important issues for employers.
- Dr. Angela Fitch is the Associate Director of the Mass General Weight Center in Boston. The Weight Center is a multidisciplinary center for the care of patients of all ages with obesity including dietitians, psychologists, obesity medicine physicians and metabolic surgeons. She is Vice President of the Obesity Medicine Association and faculty at Harvard Medical School. She is board certified in internal medicine, pediatrics and obesity medicine.
- Melinda J Watman, RN, BSN, MSN, CNM, MBA has in-depth insight into the constant struggles patients with obesity confront on an ongoing basis – medical, psychological and physical. Her years of clinical work as well as her personal journey with obesity have led to an understanding of the challenges those with obesity are regularly faced with. She is an expert at and dedicated to educating about weight bias and its elimination. She is Chair of the MA Coalition for Action on Obesity and sits on the Board of the Obesity Action Coalition.
- Matt Zerr is the Director of Population Health - Health Management at HealthNow New York Inc. He provides oversight of the local and national partners that provide varying levels of health services and programming to the health plan’s members. He also works directly with local businesses to develop and implement data-driven wellness and clinical programs designed to address and lower healthcare costs while also giving employees the individualized help that they need to achieve better health. He is a Certified Worksite Wellness Program Manager and is an active member of the National Wellness Institute. Matt serves on the board of the National Association for Health and Fitness and the Healthy Capital District Initiative.
