Dana Politis
Deputy Commissioner for Workforce Development
New York State Department of Labor
Dana Politis is the Deputy Commissioner for Workforce Development at the New York State Department of Labor, where she oversees close to 100 career centers and sets strategy for New York's statewide workforce system, including the offices of Apprenticeship, Infrastructure, and Just Energy Transition. She also leads the Department's business engagement strategy, connecting employers to talent pipelines and shaping training to meet real hiring demand.
Her work is built on partnership — with businesses, federal, state, and local agencies, elected officials, P-12 and post-secondary institutions, workforce boards, and community-based organizations. Under her leadership the Department launched an apprenticeship navigator program, brought virtual reality career exploration and training to career centers statewide, and doubled the size of the Teacher Ambassador Program.
Dana came to state service from Montefiore Medical Center, where she was the founding Director of Community Workforce Programs, building healthcare career pathways across New York City and surrounding areas. She holds a bachelor's degree from Barnard College and a Master of Public Health from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health.
