Council-supported conference to focus on New York's bioscience industry

The future of New York's bioscience industry is the topic of a Council-supported half-day seminar October 10th at New York University Medical Center's Pfizer Foundation Hall for Humanism & Medicine.

Business Council staffer Ken Pokalsky, who directs the Council's environmental and manufacturing programs, will be among the experts featured at the free event.

David K. Rosen, head of development and commercial strategic alliances for Pfizer Global Research and Development, will provide the keynote address.

The agenda also includes:

  • A panel discussion on innovation's role in the future of bioscience. Panelists include Vijay Aggarwal, president and CEO of Aureon Laboratories, Inc.; Abram M. Goldfiner, executive director of industrial liaison and technology transfer for New York University; Sharon Mates, founder and CEO of Intra-Cellular Therapies; and moderator Kathleen A. Denis, the associate vice president for Rockefeller University's Office of Technology Transfer.

  • A discussion on the role of economic development in the future of the bioscience industry with panelists Maria G. Gotsch, president and CEO of New York City Investment Fund; Juliette Morgan, director of cluster development for Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc.; Ken Pokalsky of The Business Council; and moderator Allan Paau, vice provost of technology, transfer and economic development for the Cornell University Center for Technology Enterprise and Commercialization.

  • Remarks on future steps from Robert L. Van Nostrand, executive vice president and cheif financial officer for AGI Dermatics.
