Business Council President Daniel B. Walsh has invited state legislators to comment on the Vote for Jobs Index and their individual scores. Legislators' comments would be posted on their own individual report cards.

The index, which was launched by The Business Council on September 30, scores legislators based on their actions or inactions on bills that address legislative priorities identified by The Council earlier this year. All legislators' grades and voting records on the priority bills, along with an explanation of how the Vote for Jobs Index works.

“This will be an ongoing project for us,” Walsh wrote to legislators in an October 5 letter. “We will identify our priorities at the beginning of each session, and publish individual results.”

Walsh acknowledged that accountability is a "two-way street," and told Legislators that they will have the opportunity to post a personal response or comment on the index itself, and on their own record.

“I invite you to take advantage of this opportunity, and we look forward to working with you in the years ahead to grow the economy and jobs in New York State,” Walsh wrote.
