ALBANY— The Business Council of New York State, Inc. will hold its annual conference on State Taxation May 13- 15 at the Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa in Saratoga Springs. Registration is still available.
Robert Megna, commissioner of the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance will be the keynote speaker during dinner on Wednesday, May 14.
The Council has sponsored this conference since 1984 and it has become the foremost event of its kind. The session is conducted in cooperation with the state Department of Taxation and Finance to give business tax professionals the opportunity to network with experts who write and implement state tax law.
The agenda includes formal presentations on technical aspects and changes in tax law and ample opportunities for networking.
Agenda topics include: tax components of the new state budget; potential reforms of state business taxes; the future of business tax credits and incentives in an uncertain economic climate; real property tax reform; federal legislation affecting state taxation; key judicial decisions and regulatory developments; tax compliance and enforcement initiatives and sales tax issues.
Discussions are led by staff from the Department of Taxation and Finance, Business Council staff, as well as representatives of the Real Property Tax Commission and tax professionals from Hodgson Russ LLP, the Council on State Taxation (COST) and the New York State Tax Appeals Tribunal.
