The New York State Consumer Protection Board will host an Albany seminar that will help businesses determine how to reach consumers without violating state and federal “do-not-call” laws.

"Under the 'Do Not Call' law, there are very few instances when a sales call may be placed legally to the more than 7.5 million phone numbers now listed on the 'Do Not Call' Registry," said Teresa A. Santiago, chairperson and executive director of the CPB.

The CPB said telemarketing suits have been settled with 31 companies this year.

“With the settlements we have reached this year, along with our outreach and education campaign, we hope to increase compliance and reduce the number of 'Do Not Call' complaints,” Santiago said.

The September 12 conference will be held from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Empire State Plaza.
