Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University and has been a licensed professional engineer since 1996. Prior to beginning his career with DEC Chris had 5 years of experience working for the Department of Defense and at a coal fired power plant. 

For the past 28 years Chris has worked for the Department of Environmental Conservation in varying capacities and in four different offices. Chris was appointed as Director of the Division of Air Resources in May 2021 after serving as Assistant Director for the Division since early 2020. Prior to taking on the Assistant Director duties Chris had extensive experience in stationary source permitting, inspections and enforcement both at the staff level and as supervisor of the Enforcement Section and then as supervisor of the Permitting and Compliance Section. Chris has also worked for two years as the Regional Engineer in the DEC R9 Buffalo Office where he was responsible for supervision of all environmental quality staff covering 6 Counties in Western NY.
