The Chamber Alliance of New York State (CANYS) and The Business Council are planning a Washington "lobby day" for New York State's business community on June 14.

This will be the first such lobby day in nearly a decade, according to Denise Murphy McGraw, executive director of CANYS and director of regional affairs for The Council. She is organizing the event.

The lobby day is being planned in cooperation with U.S. Reps. Mike McNulty, John Sweeney, and Jim Walsh.

The day is part of the "Nation's Business Summit" sponsored by the United States Chamber of Commerce. Its goal is to bring together New York business leaders with members of New York's Congressional delegation for information dialogue on national issues of interest to business, McGraw said.

The day's schedule includes:

  • A breakfast hosted by Congressmen McNulty and Sweeney at 8 a.m. in the Gold Room of the Rayburn Congressional Office Building. New York's entire Congressional delegation has been invited, and business leaders planning to participate are advised to inform their own elected representatives that they plan to attend this meeting. The cost of this breakfast is $25 per person.
  • A briefing hosted by Congressman Walsh in the Rayburn Congressional Office Building from 9:45 a.m. until noon.
  • Two lunch options -- lunch on your own, or at the U.S. Chamber's "Blue Chip Enterprise Luncheon."
  • Afternoon lobby visits or sightseeing, to be arranged by individual participants.
