ALBANY, N.Y.—The board, staff and members of The Business Council of New York State, Inc. are deeply saddened by the passing of Roger Hannay. Roger was a long-time member of The Business Council’s Board of Directors, having first been elected on September 17, 2003. Roger continued his service to the Council and New York State long after stepping down as president and CEO of Hannay Reels in 2012. A lifelong champion of New York’s business community, Roger was honored for his lasting impact on the state in 2014 when he was named the winner of the Corning Award for Excellence at The Business Council’s Annual Meeting.
“Roger Hannay exemplified leadership and remained a vocal and trusted member of The Business Council and its board until his passing,” said Heather C. Briccetti, Esq., president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State, Inc. “New York’s business community has lost a true champion, and I know I speak for the board, our staff, and the entire membership of the Council when I say he will be deeply missed. Our thoughts are with Roger’s loving wife and caretaker Sherley, and their children and grandchildren.”
