The Business Council's Government Affairs Council (GAC) will hold its annual "issues conference" Monday, Nov. 13, at the Desmond Hotel in Albany.

At this meeting, GAC members and Business Council staff will discuss policy objectives for 2001 and the current political climate.

During lunchtime remarks, Fred Dicker, state editor for the New York Post, will assess the elections and their likely impact on the political climate in Albany.

The agenda also includes:

  • A presentation on the state of New York's economy.

  • A panel discussion of the vital economic development role played by the state's colleges and universities.

  • Presentations by The Council's government-affairs staff on priority issues for 2001.

In addition, Peter Huber, a fellow with the Manhattan Institute, has been invited to discuss how technology-based economic growth affects energy demand. The Manhattan Institute is a conservative think tank that focuses on urban issues.

The meeting, which will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., is open to all members of the GAC.
