Rick and the staff of the Division of Materials Management work to protect the environment and public health through the fulfillment of three broad goals: minimizing waste and maximizing the use of recyclable materials while ensuring that solid waste management facilities and hazardous waste management facilities within the State are operated properly, ensuring safe and appropriate management of pesticides and providing protection from exposure to them, and regulating radioactive materials discharges and providing technical support and oversight of sites with radioactive contaminants. Rick has worked for the DEC since 1997. He is a professional engineer and received his bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
