Joint Statement Regarding New York’s Unemployment Insurance Fund Debt 

“We are glad the discussions on how to fund the UI debt are back open. New York State businesses have shouldered this multi billion dollar burden for the first four years following state mandated shutdowns. Paying off the debt in its entirety not only relieves our employers after years of inaction from the state but it also creates a solvent system allowing New York State to be in a better position to handle large amounts of claims in the future, should we see another dramatic downturn in our economy.”
