The Business Council of New York State Announces Round of 16 Finalists for the Second Annual “Coolest Thing Made in New York" Contest
ALBANY—The Business Council of New York State Inc. announced Tuesday that the public has chosen 16 finalists to advance to the Round of 16 in the Coolest Thing Made in New York competition.
Thirty-six businesses applied for this year’s contest and competed in the popular vote last week. The top 16 businesses to receive the most votes and advance are -

- Bluefors Cryocooler Technologies Inc. (Syracuse)
- Confer Plastics (North Tonawanda)
- Corning Inc. (Canton)

- Global Foundries (Malta)
- Inficon (Syracuse)
- Karma Sauce (Rochester)
- Knowlton Technologies LLC. (Watertown)
- Otis Technology (Lyons Falls)
- Scarano Boat Building (Albany)
- SureShot Tee LLC. (Groton)
- Townsend Leather (Johnstown)
- Vesucre (Oneonta)

The statewide initiative spotlights the innovation, creativity, and manufacturing excellence of businesses across the state. This exciting competition provides a platform for manufacturers to showcase their products and highlight their vital role in driving New York's economy forward.
Weekly winners will be decided by a public vote on the contest’s website, allowing New Yorkers to have a direct say in determining the coolest product made in the state.
The voting process is as follows.
- August 4- August 10 = Round of 16
- During this week, products will be put head-to-head with one another, and the winner of each head-to-head matchup will move on. (one vote per product per day per device).
- August 11-August 17 = Round of 8.
- During this week, products will once again be put head-to-head with one another, and the winner of each head-to-head matchup will move on. (one vote per product per day per device).
- August 18 – August 24 = Round of 4
- During this week, products will once again be put head-to-head with one another, and the winner of each head-to-head matchup will move on. (one vote per product per day per device).
- September 1 – September 18 = Final 2
- During these two weeks, the final two products will again be put head-to-head. (one vote per product per day per device).
The final two contests will be invited to The Sagamore Resort to showcase their products to the more than 250 attendees of The Business Council’s Annual Meeting, where voting will be allowed until we announce a winner on the evening of September 18th at our awards dinner.
