ALBANY, N.Y.—“Today’s generator deactivation assessment from the NYISO reiterates what we have been saying for some time, New York must build its needed energy infrastructure. While it is good news that the NYISO says our state has enough electricity to meet future needs, we cannot lose sight of the fact that this is only true if natural gas plants currently under construction are able to come online. Natural gas has proven to be a clean, reliable and affordable source to not only meet our state’s current energy needs, but also act as fuel for distributed generation. We hope this assessment resonates with state regulators and policymakers and serves as a catalyst for the approvals necessary to build these critically needed facilities.”
