2026 Annual Meeting Recap

Wednesday, September 23

The Business Council’s Board of Directors meeting took place in the conference center where Heather Mulligan, President and CEO gave her report. In addition, the board provided reports and updates. Two guests - Carly Cooperman, Schoen Cooperman Research and Max Morgan, Manhattan Strategies gave presentations to the board. Several sub-committees also held meetings throughout the day and chamber executives from across the State of New York met for their conference.

During the evening, The Presidents Reception brought together members, staff, and guests for a wonderful night of networking, meaningful conversations about business, and an opportunity to hear from New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli.

Thursday, September 24

In the morning, we recognized our 25-year, 50-year, and 75-year anniversary members. Congratulations to our anniversary members and thank you for your continued dedication to The Business Council.

Our programming Thursday consisted of a two-part panel discussion titled, “New York’s Innovation Advantage: Building the Nation’s Quantum and Semiconductor Ecosystem. We then heard from Ashlee Rich Stephenson from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and president at AxAdvocacy who gave attendees an update on federal elections and the political climate.


Thursday afternoon consisted of several activities including golf, paint and sip, pickleball and a beautiful boat cruise on Lake George.

On Thursday evening, we hosted our Annual Awards Dinner and heard from Joseph Carr, American entrepreneur and founder of Josh Cellars, one of the most famous wine brands in the United States. We also presented six awards, including our most prestigious award, The Corning Award for Excellence. This year’s recipient was Governor George E. Pataki who was recognized for his many years of public service and commitment to New York’s business community and continued growth.

Friday, September 25

We started out the day by holding the Annual Meeting of The Business Council. We then heard from candidates for running for comptroller and attorney general. Our final panel discussion of the event titled “Powering New York’s Future: An All-of-the-Above Energy Strategy for Reliability, Affordability, and Growth” was then held. To conclude this year’s Annual Meeting and Conference, we heard brief remarks from Governor Kathy Hochul.
