Award to be Presented at Annual Meeting in September
ALBANY – The Business Council of New York State announced Tuesday the finalists for the Minority Business Award. 36 businesses were nominated by legislators from across New York State and 11 were selected as finalists. The award was established in February in an effort to highlight minority, women, and LGBTQ businesses and recognize their history and success
The Business Council of New York State in partnership with The Hudson Renewable Energy Institute and Pace University held the 2022 Renewable Energy Conference virtually from June 21 - 22. The Conference brought together subject matter experts, state officials, and business leaders to explore New York's paths to renewable energy
Members of the American Semiconductor Innovation Coalition (ASIC), including NY CREATES and the State University of New York (SUNY), have teamed up with The Business Council of New York State to host a roundtable conversation led by U.S. Representative Paul Tonko (D-Amsterdam) on the future of the semiconductor industry in New York State, as well as the groundbreaking coalition working towards the passage of the Bipartisan Innovation Act, which will establish a National Semiconductor Technology Center (NSTC)
“The legislation originally included onerous provisions that not only included salary range but other disclosures of potential additional compensations. This would have been a difficult and impossible task for almost any business. We were able to negotiate a compromise with the legislature to only include salary ranges which made the bill relatively consistent with a local law passed by New York City and one that is being contemplated in other jurisdictions
The Business Council of New York State joined a coalition of chambers, across New York State, calling for a federal assault weapons ban in response to the continued mass shootings across the country.

"The Business Council applauds the state Senate for the passage of a bill to extend the Sunday operating hours of liquor and wine stores. Just as the "Brunch Bill" allowed bars and restaurants to serve alcohol at 10 am on Sundays, allowing liquor stores to open at 10 am is business-friendly and good for the economy
