Environmental Committee Meeting
Friday, June 9, 2023
1:00 - 2:00 PM
This meeting of The Business Council's Environment Committee will be held virtually and is open to all members of The Business Council. The meeting will focus on the state's GHG cap and invest program ahead of their meeting the following week.
We wanted to make sure members were aware of New York State’s outreach efforts regarding a GHG cap and invest program. Their outreach will include two overview sessions and five sector-specific webinars addressing natural gas, liquid fuels, EITEs, waste and electric sectors (the full schedule is available here.) In addition, the state is asking for comments on the cap and trade, emissions reporting and auction allowance rules adopted by other jurisdictions, including California, Washington and Quebec. The DEC web site include links to these state’s regulations. We urge members to participate, and we will be participating in, and reporting out on each of these sessions. The DEC’s session on energy intense and trade exposed industries is scheduled for Tuesday, June 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Knowing the level of interest among Business Council members on EITE issues, The Business Council will be holding this webinar to discuss key issues and explore possible recommendations.
As always, please feel free to contact me to discuss the cap and invest program and related issues in advance of these DEC sessions.
This meeting is for Business Council members only.
