Statement on Governor Hochul’s Wrongful Death Bill Veto

“We thank Governor Hochul for her thoughtfulness on this matter and consideration of the broader impact on New York businesses and consumers. Under current laws, families remain protected through the many legal avenues they can utilize to recover financially from their terrible losses. This bill threatened the stability of all aspects of our economy, including our healthcare system, government services, transportation systems, and schools, and would have saddled New Yorkers and small businesses with increased costs at a time when they’re already battling an affordability crisis
