2010 Annual Spring Environment Conference

ALBANY— The Business Council of New York State, Inc. will host its 2010 Spring Environment Conference on April 15, 2010 at the Crowne Plaza Albany, Albany, NY.
This one-day conference provides participants with a mid-year update on environmental issues by key officials from the Governor’s Office and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from and meet the experts who write and implement environmental laws and regulations. They will get the latest information on key topics including: Job creation opportunities with Marcellus Shale and How Greenhouse Gas Emissions Impact the Federal Cap and Trade Program.

The opening remarks will be provided by Alexander B. Grannis,Commissioner of the New York State Department of Environmental (DEC). His discussion will center on DEC’s efforts to balance the need for New York to create jobs with the increasing stresses on our environment.
Another highlight includes remarks by Peter M. Iwanowicz, Assistant Secretary for the Environment for Governor Paterson DEC and luncheon remarks by Kenneth Adams, president and CEO The Business Council of New York State, Inc.

Other sessions will include: an update from the Office of General Counsel, material waste management, Brownfield legislation update, the Pollution Prevention Institute and carbon foot-printing, and a legislative update from Business Council staff.

The event attracts environmental professionals from manufacturing, industrial, engineering and legal sectors, among others.
