Sen. Skelos has it right, property taxes are job one
Albany- “New Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos has it exactly right when he says property taxes are the number one priority,” said Kenneth Adams, president and CEO of The Business Council of New York State.
“New York's highest in the nation property taxes have been rising much faster than inflation. The situation is unsustainable,” added Adams.
“The state's crushing property tax burden is killing our economy. It is a huge problem for businesses. First, business pays 40 percent of the property tax bill outside of New York City. Second, these high property taxes are driving skilled New Yorkers out of the state and making it harder for business to recruit workers into the state,” said Adams.
“The Business Council looks forward to working with the Sen. Skelos, Gov. David Paterson and the Assembly to provide all New Yorkers with property tax relief,” concluded Adams.
