Business Council to host human resource conference and
legislative day

The Business Council will sponsor its annual “Human Resources Legislative Day in Albany” April 14-15 in downtown Albany. The event is being put on in collaboration with the New York State Society for Human Resource management.

Officials from the New York State Department of Labor (DOL) are scheduled to address labor standards, wage issues and unemployment insurance. Program sessions are designed to provide a “neutral ground” for participants to learn about DOL enforcement standards and procedures. The event also includes legislative visits with State lawmakers, with discussion focused on the state’s paid family leave proposals.

Other agenda highlights include:

  • A networking reception on Monday, April 14th beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the War Room of the State Capitol, including free tours of the Capitol.

  • Morning and afternoon sessions on Tuesday, April 15th beginning at 8:00 a.m. in Hearing Room A of the Legislative Office Building. The briefings will feature Mike Burkard, Chief Labor Standards Investigator, Jim Gerow, Supervising Labor Standards Investigator, and Ed Delehanty, Unemployment Insurance Program Manager, all from the New York State Department of Labor.

  • A networking luncheon at noon in the Albany room.

Event registration is $79 for Business Council members. Additional information and online registration can be found at: http://www.bcnys.org/whatsnew/events/HumanResourceInfo.htm
