Homeland Security Council to host meeting at the Sagamore

The Homeland Security Council of New York State will hold its next meeting in conjunction with The Business Council’s Annual Meeting Friday, September 23 from 9 – 11 a.m. at the Sagamore in Bolton Landing.

All members of The Business Council are invited to attend the third meeting of the recently formed Homeland Security Council.

The meetings agenda includes:

  • A roundup of recent events and topics from HSC Chairman Robert Gearhart, director of homeland security for Northrop Grumman.

  • An update of Empire State Development initiatives by Fred DiMaggio, director of industry development for Empire State Development's Homeland Security and Strategic Business Division.

  • A presentation by Bruce Aitken, president of the national organization Homeland Security Industries Association.

  • A presentation from a representative from Meridian Technologies, a small fiber-optics company based in Long Island. The presentation will focus on the success Meridian Technologies found in partnering with larger businesses for homeland security purposes.

  • A first-responder prospective of the homeland security market from Thomas LaBelle, executive director of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs.

The HSC will also hold another day-long conference in early 2006. Due to the success of the first conference, in January of 2005, the Council will make the conference an annual event. The 2006 Homeland Security Conference will be held in conjunction with The Business Council’s Legislators' Reception in January. Details will be available this fall at the HSC web site.
