Business Council unveils upgraded Web site

The Business Council has upgraded its Web site, adding new content and changing its design to make it more user friendly and easier to navigate. The Web site's address remains www.bcnys.org.

"The Web site will continue to be updated daily," said Linda Costello, the Council's Webmaster. "But the new functions will help the reader to more easily move through the information that the site offers."

Key changes to the Web site include:

  • "Print this page" Prior to this update, the Council posted "print versions" of all articles, which would bring up a new browser window in which the article was formatted for print. The new "print this page" button will print the page in a new format automatically, without a new window. "This will eliminate the frustration of users with slower connections who had to wait for a new page to open," Costello said.

  • "Search this site" The new search tool, located on the left navigation bar of all www.bcnys.org pages, will help the user find information more quickly. The search button is also more accessible in its new position, Costello added.

The Council's site will continue to provide a broad range of information on business issues in New York State, including:

  • Business Council news stories and press releases.

  • The Council's complete legislative agenda.

  • Research reports and policy analysis by the Council's research affiliate, The Public Policy Institute.

  • A calender of coming events, including detailed agendas and on-line registration.

  • Information on programs and products offered by the Business Council's Insurance Fund, as well as other benefits of Council membership.

  • A staff directory of the Business Council, complete with phone numbers and e-mail address of the Council's staff members

  • Information on New York State, and links to many other sites of interest.
