Senator Charles Schumer to keynote March 23 Binghamton University research symposium

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer will be the keynote speaker at Binghamton University’s second major research symposium, March 23 and 24, at the university.

The university-sponsored symposium is designed to help faculty researchers and spur collaborations between university researchers and industry. The event, Destination Discovery '05, will also help academics to identify new research opportunities and partnerships.

Senator Schumer is expected to touch on ties between research and jobs as well as homeland security and the economy in his March 23 keynote address.

The agenda also includes talks by representatives from the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration as well as other federal agency representatives and university representatives from across the state.

The symposium will include updates on federal funding opportunities and research policies and practices as well as the “Synervations Expo,” which will showcase new technologies, applications and ideas through displays, posters and demonstrations.
